How I work

At the heart of my practice is creating a safe, confidential space. Somewhere you can arrive as you are, without judgement, and know that what happens between us stays between us. This safety is the foundation everything else is built on; it's what allows difficult or unspoken things to surface, and be explored, at a pace that feels right for you.

I work collaboratively, not as an expert with answers, but as a companion in the process. You lead the way, and I offer curiosity, gentle guidance, and support alongside you. Together, we explore what emerges. There's no fixed path or "right" way for this to unfold.

I also recognise that every person is different. No two people experience grief, illness, or difficulty in the same way, so I don't bring a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I try to understand who you are, what matters to you, and what you need from this space, and shape our work around that.

Art materials become a way of exploring thoughts, feelings, and experiences that might otherwise be difficult to reach. Sometimes a feeling can be painted, sculpted, or drawn before it can be spoken; sometimes an image says something words simply can't. This isn't about creating something "good" — it's about creating something true.

And importantly, no artistic ability is needed. This isn't an art class, and there's no skill required, no right or wrong way to use the materials. Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush or used to love art as a child, this space is for anyone willing to explore, however that looks for you.

When a flower doesn’t bloom…

This quote captures the heart of how I work. I believe that emotional difficulties do not exist in isolation. They are shaped by our relationships, experiences and the environments around us.

I work in partnership with children, young people, parents, carers and schools, recognising that lasting change comes through understanding and strengthening the environment around the individual, not simply focusing on the individual themselves.

As a fully qualified psychodynamic art psychotherapist, I'll help you explore and understand the deeper patterns behind how you think, feel, and relate to others, using creativity as another way to communicate what may be difficult to put into words. As a fully trained psychodynamic art psychotherapist I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I hold full professional insurance and an enhanced DBS certificate, and I attend regular CPD to continually develop my understanding of new theories and practice. I also adhere to GDPR guidelines, ensuring all client information is stored and handled securely and confidentially.
